I am an Assistant Professor of Journalism at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

I received my Ph.D. in Communication from Columbia University and my M.Sc. in Comparative Media Studies from MIT. At both institutions, I studied the role of social media in the emergence of new cultural paradigms. This continues to be an important part of my research agenda.

In these pages, you will find an outline of my many lives as a scholar, a developer, an educator, and a reporter. The interplay of communication and technology is the common thread running through all those experiences.
