Portfolio as a Science Journalist
My whole journalistic production has been written in Portuguese with two exceptions. In 2012, I published a couple of pieces in English for the Txchnologist, a science and technology online publication sponsored by GE. Since then, the Txchnologist’s website has become unavailable. For that reason, I am republishing those two texts here:
- Bridging the Gap: How Do You Encourage Brazilians to Be Entrepreneurs?
- Noah’s Scriveners: The Challenges of Tracking Brazil’s 1.8 Million Species
I published hundreds of articles in Portuguese over a five-year span as a science reporter for O Estado de S. Paulo—one of Brazil’s most influential newspapers. In this portfolio, I offer a small selection of those texts. I decided to favor news pieces with rich infographics since most visitors of my website are not fluent in Portuguese, but can appreciate the visual elements. That is also appropriate for I really enjoyed working in close collaboration with the talented infographics department of my newsroom. My interest in visual storytelling and data visualization dates back to that period.
